Correct. I ate like five of them last night after grilling some chicken wings. Healthy! Tonight’s gluttony will involve tagalongs.

I remember giving a motivational speech at the council popcorn kickoff where I said something to the effect that “ we all know the Girl Scouts were first in line when they were handing out fundraisers, everyone loves cookies, but we got stuck with popcorn and it’s up to all of you to figure out how to sell it”. My boss didn't see the humor

I think it has a lot to do with them using two different bakeries across the country. It might make it easier for them to differentiate on their inventory, or it might be a carryover from some older names.

Im in an area served by Little Brownie, but right up against two councils supplied by ABC, so sometimes see a weird mix of the two. Like the one troop that somehow had Samoas and Lemonades

agree - the trefoils and mint ones a great, but Samoas are tops. One of our local breweries did a girl scout cookie/beer tasting a couple weeks ago - it was interesting.

yeah, it’s two different bakery supply systems, but there was a trademark beef in there, which meant that GS couldn’t use the same proprietary naming across the whole country.
I suppose it adds to the intrigue.

I had access up until two weeks ago t o a warehouse that stores the GS cookie supply for the whole northwest sector.
Mountains of cookies. Cookies as far as the eye can see. The warehouse is so big you can’t even come close to seeing one end from the other. All stacked 40 feet high. My mind was truly boggled once I realized what it was I was looking at...

The problem with ThinMints is that you have to eat them half a tube at a time. Don't Samoas have coconut though? Coconut is ew for me.

If you want to discuss correct cookies, then Chips Ahoy (tm)
original
are best cookies. Close second:

Oreos.
Seriously though: if I’m at a potluck and faced with a table of homemade desserts, and there’s a bag of Chips Ahoy, I will grab the entire bag and take it back to my table.

My fetish is to break them in half, then dunk in milk on fork tines. You would not think the “mint” would work with “dairy” but it does... must be the creaminess of the chocolate or something.

How do you categorize using unpaid children to shill cookies in the parking lot of a local grocery store? This is a business model set up exclusively to use kids to sell cookies. What else does the Girls Scouts do? The local troop selling the cookies gets 10% of the revenue generated by their sales in return for what? A merit badge for crafts?

Samoas> tin mints are you dyslexic

The local troop selling the cookies gets 10% of the revenue generated by their sales
I believe you answered your own question.
![]() 03/05/2020 at 12:02 |

It’s a bakery with an unpaid child sales force. It’s ridiculous. Selling cookies is the only reason the Girl Scouts exist. They generate something like $800,000,000 in annual sales. Each of those sales runs through the hands of a young girl who is not being compensated. This isn’t selling brownies at the school bake sale, or having a car wash, this is building a bakery and building a car wash and then staffing those operations with under age workers who go unpaid. I’m not a fan.
![]() 03/05/2020 at 12:33 |

Quite the opposite: I am doing the rest of the guests a service because they are then free to eat the homemade desserts.

Tin mints sound gross.
M aybe Samoas are better than tin mints. But they have nothing on Thin mints.
